Minis and Events FAQ's
Unless previous arrangements are made, we will not be able to do any individual photography of babies under 6 months of age (and/or unable to sit on their own comfortably). Make sure to mention if this is a necessary part of your session so we can make plans accordingly.
We will not be supplying props for any sessions unless they specifically say so above. You are welcome to provide your own, just make sure the use of them does not interfere with the session time period or else we will not be able to have enough time to shoot the agreed upon images for you.
Unless the rain is a major downpour, the mini session day will continue as planned. In the event of light to medium rain the location will then change to a shelter house or covered bridge within the park. Our rain check day will be announced on each applicable date above. We will contact you with any updates or changes.
Because of the limited nature of these sessions, they are non-refundable under any circumstances. If for any reason you are unable to come, you are able to gift your session to another person.
In order to participate in our classes about cinematography, videography, and photography you must be able to bring your own DSLR camera with one interchangeable lens. If your camera does not have an interchangeable lens it will not be able to do what we will cover in the class. You can consider renting a lens from www.mpex.com or from World of Used Photography, but you will not be able to practice after the class and could easily forget what we cover. Each event and class will list any necessary items for you to bring and we will be providing anything else.
Our classes and events currently happen only once a year and because of the size limit, we are unable to offer refunds at this time.
Our classes are geared towards teenagers through adults. Our events will state a minimum age limit if they are suitable for specific ages.

Family photography FAQ's
Because we know how hard it is to wait, we make sure to post a preview image on social media by the following business day. We deliver all family images within 1 month of capturing them. It isn’t unusual for the images to be delivered within 2 weeks.
We capture candid moments through lifestyle photography rather than focusing on posing your family. Grace always makes sure to grab a few posed portraits throughout your session, but focuses on capturing your emotions of joy and laughter rather than forcing smiles. Grace says “In order to help you remain at ease and to help you have fun, I tend to make a fool of myself for your enjoyment. I knew my theater degree would pay off someday!”’
In regard to my editing style, I keep my images colorful and bold. I believe that classic and timeless prevails over trendy styles so your images will be relevant for generations to come.
I’m located on the South-West side of the vast city of Columbus, Ohio. Fun fact! Did you know that Columbus is in the top 20 most populated cities in the USA? At the time of writing this FAQ it’s the 14th. We have a higher population than San Francisco, CA!
I love traveling for photography. I will travel anywhere in the USA with applicable travel fees on top of the session cost. Building relationships with other business owners across the USA is important to me because I thrive on making other businesses shine through my work. I want you to succeed and will cheer you on every step of the way.
My process is simple. I want to make sure my services are available to everyone. All you have to do is confirm the date with me, sign a contract, and pay the full fee by the date of your session.
Of course! I have so many incredible galleries here for you to look through. Aren’t all of the people wonderful? I kinda love them all a lot.
Although I am often available ASAP, it’s best to book me at least a month in advance. When it comes to Fall portraits, 3-6 months in advance is your best bet. Everyone wants Fall portraits! Who doesn’t love colorful trees, buffalo plaid and snuggling up close with your loved ones?
You’ve hit the jackpot! I currently include a print release form with all of my packages. This means that you aren’t obligated to purchase them separately, and you aren’t required to purchase $$$ amount of products to unlock them either.
I do not give anyone the copyrights to my images. I retain those rights fully. Just like an artist retains the rights to a piece of artwork you purchase, I do the same.
Take a deep breath… And let it out. I consider all of my clients to be my friends, and due to that I do everything I can to make your family photo session happens without any penalties. We all have unexpected events that rise up and mess up our plans. I do my best to accommodate you, but there is a chance that you will be unable to reschedule with me and will lose your session fee.
In case of an emergency I will either reschedule with you for another date, or I will hire a photographer to capture your session for me. When I hire a photographer to work for me, I make sure their work is as good if not better than my own. I would rather lose money and get you the images you deserve than hire a photographer less than you deserve.
Here’s a fun fact for you: around 90% of my clients ask this exact question. The people you see in these galleries are most likely just like you. Instead of focusing on posing ideas, I lead you through a discussion that brings out the best smiles and confidence within you to the surface. I see myself like a cheerleader for you and I do whatever it takes to help you feel comfortable and confident while working with me.
I can’t imagine anything more horrific than losing the images of a client, or even my own images. The great news is that you couldn’t be in better hands when it comes to having backups. Sam and I have backups for our backups for our…. You get the picture. (Pun not intended but AWESOME!) From the moment I capture your images they are already being recorded to two SD cards. We purchased cameras specifically for their dual SD card slots in order to have backups from the start. Your images are always in two places while being edited, and then I hold onto them after they are delivered to my clients for as long as possible. I highly recommend backing them up on your own to make sure you have a copy somewhere at all times. I do not hold myself responsible for keeping backups of the images once they have been delivered to my clients, even though I do all I can to keep a copy of them.
For a typical session that lasts around 60 minutes, you will receive at least 30 images. Although I capture 200-400 images during that time, I make sure to deliver only my best work.
Due to the fact that I retain the copyrights to each of my images, I also make sure to keep the RAW files for my own use. All the edited images are my calling card and my signature so I try to make sure to keep tabs on where my images are being shared and who has access to them. We have found that RAW images are not truly what our clients want. They take up much more space, are not printable, and edits aren’t saved on them. We don’t give other people access to edit our work.
What? Do you want to go on a storm chase with me?! In that case, yes. When it comes to family sessions I tend to reschedule for better weather. Occasionally we could plan for an indoor location as a backup, however an indoor place is requiring masks to be worn, it will not be the best place for portrait sessions.
In high school I was a part of our yearbook program and loved capturing track and field. Before that I preferred being on the other side of the camera, but now I’m definitely more confident behind the camera than in front of it. I took a photography class in college while majoring in theatre, and I loved it! After college and working for a couple of art organizations/ teams, I fell in love with photography and started doing more of it.
I’ve dabbled with photography for over 10 years, but we've been an LLC ever since 2016.

Business Photograph FAQ's
Every business project I take on is largely specified to the needs of the individual business and therefore this is very hard to pinpoint. I tend to return all final images within 4 weeks, however this is largely based off the scope of work necessary.
While working for The Wonder Jam as an apprentice photographer, I fell in love with capturing food and product photography. I would spend hours looking for props, styling food and products, and then capturing them for a wide range of clientele. My dream is to one day style and capture a cookbook from cover to cover.

If you have a deadline for when you’d like your images to be presented, I’d schedule the session at least 4-6 weeks before that deadline. That will give you time for any additional edits or necessary revisions.
The first step is for us to schedule a virtual meeting and discuss your business, your desires for your business, and to see what your current needs and hopes are. Once we meet I’ll be able to curate a package that fits your desires. Once the invoice deposit has been paid and the contract has been signed your date and session will be solidified in the calendar.
I currently cover all of the above and more. Let’s meet up and chat about your specific business needs. I would love to help your business grow through my photography.
Okay, okay, I only stabbed my hand while slicing an avocado ONE TIME! Do you have to bring that up? Just kidding. Sort of. Ask me about it sometime.
The great news is that if an emergency comes up and your date cannot be adjusted, you will most likely end up with an incredible professional who has more industry experience, and who will rock your business in a wonderful way. As a mom of 3 I always have backups at my fingertips. Your images are so important to me that I only hire replacement photographers who are as good or better than I am. I would prefer to lose money on my end than to provide you with sub-par images.
In all cases I deliver a print release to allow you to print your images at your leisure with whomever you choose.
Sometimes businesses have delicate images that are important to be kept internal rather on display to the public. I am willing and able to offer a copyright release under some circumstances for an added fee.
Of course! My business portfolio is available here and will give you a wide idea of what I capture.
The quantity of deliverable images varies depending on the job contracted to us. Except for very rare occasions, most of our clients do not require RAW format images. In the event that you do, we will gladly discuss this with you.

We do our best to help accomodate rescheduling for a business shoot. However there may be factors and costs in play that we cannot get back with a late reschedule. We may not be able to refund all or some of our retainer fee in the event of a reschedule.

Wedding FAQ's
As a professional photographer, I cannot imagine delivering images that I haven’t spent time retouching, color correcting, and fully editing. Every image I deliver has been handled with time and care in order to make sure your wedding day is remembered as beautifully as possible. I take my job very seriously and want you to look perfect in every image you are in. I retouch every portrait, and every image featuring the bride and groom.
I capture candid moments through lifestyle photography rather than focusing on posing you. I always make sure to grab a few posed portraits throughout your wedding day, but I focus on capturing your emotions of joy and laughter rather than forcing smiles. In order to help you remain at ease and to help you have fun, I tend to make a fool of myself for your enjoyment. I knew my theater degree would pay off someday! In regards to my editing style, I keep my images colorful and bold. I believe that classic and timeless prevails over trendy styles so your images will be relevant for generations to come.
Around 6 weeks after your wedding day we will have an in-person or virtual photography reveal party. During this engagement your photo album and final images will be presented to you, with the option to make purchases of heirlooms and products for your home and family. You will be able to access your images in an online gallery, as well as a USB drive that is gifted to you with your final images.
Yes, yes, yes. I love keeping my business small, that way you get the images you’re expecting and you get to know and trust me before your wedding day. Unless there is an emergency (dealt with an another FAQ) you will be taken care of by me.
I love showing off my galleries! I’ve been honored with the task of capturing so many incredible couples on their wedding day and I hope you can see just how passionate I am about each and every one of them as you look at their galleries here.
This is a great and rather embarrassing/humbling story. My first wedding was Sam’s (my husband and cinematographer extraordinaire) brother’s wedding. I had no idea what I was doing, I was using a camera I was unfamiliar with, and as gracious as they were to me, I learned a lot about what it takes to capture a wedding day through that experience. Just because you are a great photographer does not mean you’re ready to capture an entire wedding day. It takes portrait experience, event experience, product styling and photography experience, as well as incredible social skills. I’m thankful to all the people who let me learn as I grew into the professional I am today.
All of my clients receive a print release which is different from the copyright. This way I can retain and keep track of the style and quality of my images while my clients can have the freedom to print through whichever platform is the best for them.
As crazy as it may sound, I average around 4,000 raw images per wedding. I have a crazy trigger finger because I hate the idea of missing any moment from the day. I also can’t imagine delivering a blurry photograph.
I deliver 40-50 images an hour for around 400 images for an 8 hour wedding. I narrow down the images so you do not have to, but I also narrow down the images to the best of the best. When I go about this task I make sure to keep at least one image from every part of your wedding that I’ve captured, even if it’s an embarrassing photograph of a toasted uncle dancing in the background during the reception.
Do not hire a photographer who captures a wedding in JPEG. I REPEAT DO NOT HIRE ANYONE WHO CAPTURES A WEDDING IN JPEG...ahem
I always capture weddings in RAW. RAW is a format that retains a lot of details and data in each image I capture. Because of this my images can be blown up to incredible sizes for printed heirlooms in your home and as gifts for family members. When you hire a professional photographer for your wedding day they should at the very least be able to capture your wedding day in RAW and also have the ability to edit the images. If they do not, RUN AWAY!!
There are so many benefits for hiring me for your engagement session. Consider the engagement session as a rehearsal for your wedding day. It’s the perfect time to get comfortable in front of the camera, it’s a time to learn to trust me to guide you through each moment that I capture, and It’s so good having your first ‘family photos’ to print as you are normally outside of your fancy wedding outfits. It’s truly a worthy investment, and you can even add on an album, a guest book, and save the date cards to your package.
Although I’ve been dabbling in photography for over 10 years, I’ve been recognized as a business by the state of Ohio since 2017. I’ve captured over 60 weddings as a lead photographer.
Sure! Due to working with over 60 couples from start to finish, I can easily guide you and help you come up with a realistic timeline for the entire wedding day. I will also craft a timeline with you for the photography in order to make sure we keep everything flowing rather than losing time capturing all of the beautiful moments. It’s amazing how much time can pass when you’re having fun!
I use a wide range of equipment but for the other nerds out there like me, I use a Canon 5DIV and have a backup Canon 5DIII as well. I have a wide range of lenses, speedlight flashes, and light modifiers to make every situation possible to photograph.
When I first started this business I didn’t offer wedding prints or albums, but as I spent time in the business I learned that my couples rarely have time to print their own images or design their own books. This is why I began offering them. Now, a gifted album fully designed by us and approved by you is included in your package. We offer a small number of free image swaps in the album, and you can add additional spreads for an additional charge.
You can schedule your engagement session anytime you prefer, just make sure to note when you’d like to have your Save-the-Date’s sent in the mail. You will have a 4 week turnaround for photo delivery and may need some time to design and order your notes.
You'll typically get your engagement photos back in 4 weeks, and I tend to deliver around 30 images.
I always recommend adding a second photographer to capture your day. From micro weddings to large-scale weddings, your day will truly be all the better and will flow incredibly well if you have more hands on deck. It is one of the best investments you can make for your wedding day.
I do not provide raw images to my clients because I see the entire process as an artistic endeavor. I only provide my clients with my final edited photos, just as any artist would. Raw images are only able to be stored and processed by professionals with great computer systems that can handle the size of the images.
Your images will be available in a phone app, on an online gallery, and on a USB for you that I typically deliver along with the wedding images.
We can’t imagine anything more horrific than losing the images of a client, or even my own images. The great news is that you couldn’t be in better hands when it comes to having backups. We have backups for our backups for our…. You get the picture. (Pun not intended but AWESOME!) From the moment we capture your images they are already being backed up to two SD cards as the first backup. That’s right -- we purchased cameras specifically for their dual SD card slots in order to have backups from the start. Your images are always in two places while being edited, and then we hold onto them after they are delivered to our clients for as long as possible. We highly recommend backing them up on your own to make sure you have a copy somewhere at all times. We do not hold ourselves responsible for keeping backups of the images once they have been delivered to our clients, even though we do all we can to keep a copy of them.
We’re so glad you asked! We have access to print through some of the best shops in the country that are only available to professional, licenses photographers. We want our clients to have access to the best quality heirlooms that will last for a lifetime, and even into new generations.
Although Sam is my BFF and co-collaborator in life and in this business, I have experience working with other incredible videographers in Columbus and beyond. I will always recommend hiring Sam, but I believe in developing friendships and relationships with people that some would call my competitors. I want to help others succeed and I want to be friends with everyone. I’m happy working with any vendors you choose.
Here’s a great blog post with some tips about how to pursue this.
Because of the limited nature of these sessions, they are non-refundable under any circumstances. If for any reason you are unable to come, you are able to gift your session to another person.

Sure! Due to working with over 40 couples from start to finish, I can easily guide you and help you come up with a realistic timeline for the entire wedding day. I will also craft a timeline with you for the photography in order to make sure we keep everything flowing rather than losing time capturing all of the beautiful moments. It’s amazing how much time can pass when you’re having fun!
I use a wide range of equipment but for the other nerds out there like me, I use a Canon 5DIII and have a backup Canon as well. I have a wide range of lenses, speedlight flashes, and light modifiers to make every situation possible to photograph.

I always recommend adding a second photographer to capture your day. From micro weddings to large-scale weddings, your day will truly be all the better and will flow incredibly well if you have more hands on deck. It is one of the best investments you can make for your wedding day.

I do not provide raw images to my clients because I see the entire process as an artistic endeavor. I only provide my clients with my final edited photos, just as any artist would. Raw images are only able to be stored and processed by professionals with great computer systems that can handle the size of the images.

Wedding Cinematography FAQ's
The cameras I use for video are known for being amazing in lower light situations. I try not to add artificial light whenever possible. We know you didn’t spend all that time and money planning your beautiful wedding for me to stick giant umbrellas and softboxes in the middle of your ceremony hall or reception space. The day is about your vows and the moments you are sharing with friends and family –– not about the video of said vows and moments.. On rare occasions, we may need to add some light if you want to be able to see your video, but we try to be as discreet as possible and run this by the bride and groom beforehand.
I capture audio of the officiant, bride & groom, for the entire ceremony. I try to work as much of the vows and other portions of the ceremony audio into the video as makes sense for the story.
We try to capture your wedding day in a way that tells the story of your day beautifully and evocatively. Think of it as a wedding film rather than a wedding documentary. Rather than just capturing the events of your day on a camera, we strive to bring out the emotions of your day in a way that warms your heart and lets you remember your day in all its beauty and splendor.
We do also offer full ceremony cuts, typically a single static camera in the back focused on the bride, groom, and officiant, for an additional fee. The cinematic wedding video will not show the ceremony in its entirety, but rather will be cut down to tell the story of the day.
We record the ceremony on high quality lavalier mics placed on the officiant's and groom's lapel, and occasionally mic the bride (with their permission). We also record the audio onto a preamped high fidelity audio recorder tied into the DJ as a backup. For toasts we tie into the DJ’s mic and try to run a backup mic as well.
I record audio of the entire ceremony, as well as the toasts. I edit down the toasts to what makes sense for the story and what I think the bride and groom would appreciate on your video (you never know what you’re going to get with toasts), but I also try to always give the full audio recording of the ceremony and toasts, uncut, as a courtesy alongside your film.
We always put a microphone on the officiant and the groom. We occasionally hide another mic on the bride, but may also tie into the DJ’s audio or hide a microphone close by to the couple if it can be hidden discreetly.
The current video packages include Sam behind the camera but have the option of adding an additional videographer if desired. We pride ourselves on capturing what we need to on our own, and keeping the floor discreet without a lot of people shuffling around, but a second photographer or videographer does allow us to get more specific or difficult shots.
We are capturing more and more of your day in 4k or higher, but currently our final wedding film is delivered as a 1080p video, due to us cropping some shots down, reframing, etc. It is still very high quality HD and looks amazing. At some point our videos will be delivered in 4k as the standard, but it will that explicitly in our agreement.
Sam shoots video on Sony Alpha cameras. They're a great blend of cinematic quality camera with a mirrorless/dslr body. His primary camera is a Sony A7SIII, and his second camera is another A7SIII or an A7III.
Sam is an Enneagram 6. He brings at least two cameras, and each camera records simultaneously to two sd cards, so that in the rare event of a card failure (which has never happened to us), it's all still on the second card. We back up the raw video to multiple locations at our office, too.
The final video is currently delivered in HD on a flash drive, as well as on youtube (as youtube seems to be the longest-lasting video streaming platform.) We are now providing video books as part of our wedding film packages – so you can hold your video in your hands (as long as our suppliers continue to exist and your package or contract says it includes it).
We can make additional copies of the flash drive and video books for family or friends for an additional fee.
Typical turnaround time on a final edited wedding video is up to 6 months. Sometimes these videos are delivered sooner, and there have been occasions where they have taken longer than 6 months when we are heavily stacked up. We don’t rush your video and make sure we give it the time and care that it deserves to live up to the expectations both we and you should have for it. Sam jumped in full time on our business in 2020, and since then and with the help of Grace editing parts of our wedding films, we are working toward sooner delivery times.
While some videographers do not, we encourage couples to choose their own music for the wedding video, as no one will have a better idea of your style than you do. That said, we can only use legally licensed music from a handful of licensing websites that cover wedding films. These are not canned, stock-sounding songs – they are beautiful, powerful pieces of music that cover a lot of different tastes and styles. Sam is also able to pick the music himself, but we want our couples to be as involved as they want to with this aspect of the video.
Sam is pretty easy going and is comfortable shooting video with any photographer. We are pretty biased… Sam & Grace like working together and we work very well together. We know how to stay out of the way and give each other room to capture the most beautiful moments together. That said, for video, Sam tends to follow the photographer’s lead on timeline and has no problem shooting with a different photographer for your wedding.
We do*! Sam is a certified Part 107 drone pilot and we try to include drone shots on all of our wedding film packages! We know how awesome that unique perspective can be of your day. *We can never guarantee this – it is always dependent on weather and FAA authorization (for whatever airspace your venue falls into). We usually include a flyover shot or two of your venue and ceremony area and maybe a shot of you at sunset, but if there is any more robust drone footage desired we would need to very carefully work it into the timeline. *Only hire part 107 certified drone pilots for your wedding film – it's illegal for them to shoot without it!
