A Columbus, Ohio Wedding Story

The sky started out bright blue and the wind, a slight breeze. By the end of the ceremony the wind picked up and brought in clouds and gentle rain. Just before the reception began the sky turned into a dark, dramatic blue and the wind became bone chilling. Hilary and Drew didn’t seem to mind the weather. In fact, they will never forget that part of their wedding day because it was so intense. From Drew’s joyful tears upon seeing Hilary for the first time as she walked gracefully down the isle (see the video at the bottom of this post to see why we cried right along with him), to the limo breaking down multiple times (oops.) the day was truly unforgettable.

Hilary is an art teacher at First Community Church and crafts beautiful landscapes and other incredible artwork on the side. Drew works in finance and from what we hear he is INCREDIBLE at his job and is quickly moving up the corporate ladder. These two met and immediately hit it off. When Drew found out how much she loves all things turtle, he surprised her with a bowl of turtle soup from local restaurant The Old Mohawk. (see their German Village, Ohio engagement pictures here.)

Getting ready for the ceremony

Hilary and Drew both opted for their parties to get ready at local hotel Homewood Suites on Lane Avenue. The rooms were just the right size for the groups, and was the perfect location for traveling around Upper Arlington. They were picked up by a limo and headed to the ceremony.

Wedding Day Fashion

Hilary’s dress was from LUXE Redux Bridal and by designer Romona Keveza. Her ring was from David Yurman. She sported shoes by Badgley Mischka and a clutch from Dillard’s. Her party wore dresses from Jasmine Bridal.

Drews shoes, suit, and bowtie were all from Jos. A. Bank and his special initial cufflinks from this adorable shop on Etsy. Hilary’s father wore special turtle cufflinks from Amazon to show off his daughters love of the animal.

First Community Church Ceremony

First Community Church is located in beautiful New Albany and has an old, grand charm. The building is mostly stone on the exterior and has stained glass windows, as well as beautiful wooden accents. The sanctuary is grand and traditional as well. It was a beautiful church for a wedding day celebration. Hilary works in the preschool within the school as an art teacher currently, so it had a special meaning for their family. Hilary and Drew attend this church regularly.

The gracious wedding coordinator Jill Fisher Tribble was easy to work with and gave clear boundaries for the wedding day. She kept the day flowing seamlessly.

Their ceremony was warm and full of love. Family members shared beautiful scriptures, and Hilary and Drew made the vow to love for a lifetime. Both families get along beautifully and laughed and cried together.

Cocktail Hour

After the ceremony the limo broke down for the second time (and third time!) and delayed the party’s traveling to The Ohio State University Golf Club. Classic Limousines provided a new limo and quickly fixed the problem. Once at the course we snapped a few pictures of just the bride and groom before heading in for the party!

From the introduction words from Hilary’s father to the closing remarks from Drew where he couldn’t get enough kisses from his Hilary, the evening was very sweet and classic. They danced and and opened up the floor so they could spend the evening celebrating.

After the cake cutting during the reception they had cakes from A Cake For Leroy and our favorite was hands down The Brutus. They also provided adorable macaroon favors for guests. Hilary hand made many decorations, including the beautiful artwork of all their special landmark locations throughout their relationship so far. She chose the most beautiful table decorations and found the cutest cupcake displays ever all in the wedding color scheme of blush, champagne, gold, white, green and black.

DJ Justin Markle stayed in the background while keeping music rolling and the energy up. He was professional and incredible to work with. We highly recommend him if you like your music loud and the dancing high energy.

They finished off the evening with a brisk sparkler send off in the midst of light rain and heavy winds. It was a night to remember.
